Alexandra Stalder

Alexandra Stalder was born on the 12th of July 1999 as the third of four siblings.

At the age of 4, Mom Alice and Dad Urs were waiting for her sister Kyra and, instead of leaving her with the babysitter, decided to send her to a sailing summer camp, joining their elder brothers Martin and David, at the naval league of Desenzano to the care of the coach Domenico Foschini. Not allowed to be on the boat, she is constantly sleeping and watching her friends from the motor boat.

At the age of 6, she began a Optimist sailing course at the Centro Nautico Bardolino, trained by Michele Gallina, Roman Kholer and Paola Richelli. She starts playing football too. Two sporst that thrilled her. She start elementary school in Verona.

She likes sailing and so she takes part at THE Coppa Primavera of Cervia in 2007. She arrived 5th on the general leaderboard and her friend Christian won the trophy.

At the age of 9, her family and she moved to Oppeano, where she completed elementary and middle school. She continues her career in Optimist coached by Michele Gallina with whom she will have great satisfaction. In fact, at the age of 11, her first year as a junior, she was selected for the Italian championship in Venice where she finished at 8th place due to a BFD (partial: 30-1-1-4-2-bfd). In this period a choice is placed before her: either Sailing or football, since it was not possible to carry on both. She decides to renounce to football.

In 2012 she was selected to represent the nation at the European championship in Lignano Sabbiadoro, with coaches Ylena Carcasole and Claudio, where she finished in 14th place. Thanks to the 13th place in the Italian league of Cagliari she joined the GAN (National Agonistic Group) coached by Marcello Meringolo and Riccardo Di Paco.

In 2013 she achieved her biggest success: she won the http://www.fragliavelariva.it/node/1403  Meeting of Riva del Garda beating over 800 competitors. A great success being the largest single-seater regatta in the world. In 2014 she represented Italy at the European Championship in Berlin still coached by Di Paco and finished in 4th place. A disappointment for her but it was always a very welcome wood medal. She began the scientific high school of applied sciences at the Galileo Galilei in Verona with excellent results. Thanks to excellent school and sailing results she won an award offered by panathlon. To finish her career in Optimist she took part in a final race in Optimist at Bermuda, the junior gold cup, home of the last America’s cup.

At the end of 2014 she changed category to 420 class, the youth category par excellence, with Silvia Speri in the bow.

In 2015 they became part of the U19 national team and were selected for the World Championship in Japan in the U17 category, but they renounce participation to prepare the following championships in the best possible way.

In 2016 the crew qualified for the World Championship in SanRemo and the European Championship in Hungary finishing in 3rd place. With the victory of the Italian Championship, the Italian Sailing Federation chose them as the only representant for the Isaf U19 World Championship in New Zealand where they finished with an excellent 2nd place. Thanks to this year full of results, the Italian Sailing Federation assigns them the award as Velista dell’Anno. In 2017, last year for them in the juvenile class, they got the qualification for the World Championship, but although aware of being among the national teams, they decide not to participate because now the goal has focused on moving to the most coveted Olympic class. In October 2017 their most important project began, and they arrived in the 49erFX category.

Silvia Speri

Born in Verona on March 27th, 2000 she is a card holder at the Fraglia Vela Peschiera. She attends the 4th year at the high school “Educandato Statale agli Angeli” of Verona with excellent profit.

She started Optimist in the summer of 2009 at the Fraglia Vela Peschiera followed by coach Eduard Cinkopan and coach Fabrizio Marzocchi, achieving several results including the victory of the trophy Optimist d’Oro in the junior category in Desenzano and the XIV zone Zonal Championship.

At the end of 2013 she was awarded by Panathlon for the best academic and sports performance of the province.

At the end of 2014 she changed category to the 420 class, youth category par excellence, with Alexandra Stalder at the helm.
